Wade Summer Fest Review 2009 The last weekend of July saw collectors from all over the US and some from the UK making the journey to Harrisburg, PA for the annual Summer Wade Fest! The dealers spent Friday busy setting up their booths with a huge selection of Wade. Friday night then saw the ice cream social get off to a good start with a fun competition where collectors had to match baby pictures to the dealers! This along with a selection of ice cream and a cake made it an enjoyable evening. Saturday morning saw the doors open at 10am, by which time there was a long line snaking through the building. The room quickly filled with collectors all wanting to find missing pieces to their collection, along with adding the new pieces, including the show specials, the Buffalo, the Leprechaun in a Boat and the Betty Boop Whimsie. With hourly drawings taking place some fantastic prizes were won including gold and silver peacock whimsies! Saturday evening was the hospitality where an game got the proceedings off to an interactive start! Then throughout the evening, we had a delicious buffet, the end to the silent auctions, a fun Wade quiz and a game of English bingo (which was enjoyed by all, once everyone got the hang of it!!) The live auction on the night raised a massive $700. A Set of gold Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs were up for auction, and Cheryl Guiton-Provost went home the proud owner! By the end of the night a massive $2100 was raised for Parkinsons - well done everyone! Sunday morning the swap and sell tables were set up ready for the doors to open at 10am and they were very busy. Collectors then took another chance to look around to see if they saw anything else that caught their eye. Drawings took place every half hour throuhgout the day again with some fantastic prizes being won. The doors finally closed at 2pm when collectors were busy packing up their purchases for the journey home and the dealers started packing up their booths.
